A Message From Our Pastor
Let’s Go to the
Other Side!
Mark 4:35-41
The gospel according to St. Mark 4:35-41 records that Jesus had just
ministered to the people and at this time He is concluding with some
instructions to His disciples. After this session with His disciples, He
proclaims, “let’s go to the other side” of the sea or body of
water. In traveling to the other side a great storm comes and beats into
the ship until the ship was full of water. They awake Jesus from
sleeping during this storm. He rebukes the wind and says “peace be
still”. There was a great calm. But that was not the end of the story.
Although Jesus had calmed the storm there were still some issues that
needed some attention.
First, with a
calmed storm those on the boat still had a problem…they were not
on the other side and they had a ship full of water. They now had some
work to do. Jesus did what their “no faith” prevented them from doing
but did not let them off the hook. They had to get the water out of the
ship and continue the journey to the other side. Jesus did what they
couldn’t do, but did not do what they could do. Although we’ve seen the
hand of God move in our homes, relationships, jobs and ministries, we’ve
still got some work to do. Notice when Jesus showed up at Lazarus’ grave
He told them to roll the stone away because they could do that. Jesus
then called Lazarus from the dead because only He could do that.
Secondly, Jesus is
saying to you and me, “let’s go to the other side”. On the other side
where the Lord wants to take us are our increases, our homes, our cars,
our anointing, our favor, and yes, our money. God is not going to do it
all for us, so keep getting the “water”, the stuff that will take you
under, out of your ship and continue your journey to the other side.
Stay faithful in all areas of your walk with God. We must also get tuned
into the Spirit of God so that we sense all He wants us to do. What is
God calling you to do?
Lastly, how could
Jesus sleep during the storm? When the Lord said, “let’s go to the other
side”, it’s important to understand, it was not a question but a “Word”.
A “Word” that did not return void. So your arrival on the other side is
guaranteed in the Lord. No matter what storm or trouble comes on your
journey remember the “Word”. Know that when the Lord speaks a “Word” the
supernatural has already taken place. Therefore, anything that happens
along the way and Jesus is there but sleeping, know that it’s going to
be all right because nothing that happens in your life surprises God.
I am so
excited because I see the Lord is taking us on the other side in this
ministry. So I say to you, if you’re not on this ship, get on it. If
you’re on the ship, “stay on the ship”. The Lord has said that this
ministry is going to the other side.
